Sand Mafia Attack on police team, case registered against 30 unidentified attackers

The sand mafia has escaped with cash, ATM cards and government identity cards from the government officials.

Shahkot: On the basis of the information received from the Chandigarh head office about the illegal mining on the banks of the Sutlej river, the team of the District Mining Officer of Faridkot arrived to conduct a raid.

The mining officer’s team was attacked by dozens of armed attackers of the Sand Mafia gang. The attackers reportedly came on tractor-trolleys and motorcycles.

The gang of sand mafia ran away from the spot after vandalizing the government vehicle and the mining inspector’s private vehicle. After the aerial fire by the gunman, the sand mafia escaped.

Police of Shahkot police station have registered a case under various sections of the Mines and Minerals Act (1957). The case by police has been registered against 30 unidentified persons.
