SAS Nagar: DC Ashika Jain, SSP Sandeep Garg visit polling booths ahead of final phase

SAS Nagar: To review the preparations for the polls to be held tomorrow in SAS Nagar district Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain and SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg jointly visited the selected polling booths under various categories. Both DC Jain and Police Captain Garg conducted visit at polling booths in order to ensure free, fair and transparent voting tomorrow.



Giving more information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Jain said that the purpose of this visit was to check whether all the arrangements have been completed before the arrival of the polling parties or not.

She said that apart from sheds/tents, toilets, wheelchairs, etc., it is part of the duty of the administration to provide election staff accommodation, food, availability of fans/coolers, and sweet and cold drinking water at every booth.



She said that the booths visited include Shingariwala, Nada, Mullanpur Garibdas, Siswan and Kurali and all the arrangements were found to be adequate. She added that the booth-level officers with the support of the sector supervisors are doing their duty with full diligence to complete all the arrangements at the booths.



Talking to the polling workers before leaving the Government Polytechnic Khooni Majra, She said that they are the backbone of the election process. The duty of polling workers is the most challenging duty which ranges from booth setup, mock poll and actual poll start to poll completion.


SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg said that the district police is committed to maintaining law and order and instilling confidence in voters to exercise their vote without any fear. For this, around 60 police checkpoints have been set up on the district and inter-state borders. He said that the district police as well as the state armed police and paramilitary police would remain vigilant to prevent any untoward incident that could hamper free and fair polling in the district.
