The period of severe heat continues in Punjab. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for a heatwave today. At the same time, the heat will remain high even at night. However, this temperature is 5.4 degrees higher than the normal temperature in the state. The highest temperature of 45.8 degrees has been recorded in Amritsar and Bathinda. According to the Meteorological Department, people will have to face this kind of weather till June 14. A temperature of 41.9 degrees has been recorded in Chandigarh.
The demand for electricity has reached 16836 MW. Chandigarh Meteorological Department Director Surinder Pal Singh said that the heat will remain very high for three days. There is a possibility of rain on 18, 19 and 20.
According to the Meteorological Department, a red alert for heatwave has been issued in Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa districts. That is, there is a possibility of severe heat wave in many places and hot nights are likely in some places.
At the same time, a yellow alert of heatwave has been issued in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Barnala, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Moga, Sangrur, Rupnagar and Patiala districts.
The weather of the state is likely to remain dry for the next two days, and after that light rain may occur at isolated places. Heat wave is likely at some places on June 12 and 13, and at isolated places in the state on June 14. However, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (speed 40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places from June 14 to 17. The weather will remain hot at night.
