SGPC members express confidence in Sukhbir Badal’s presidency

During this time, discussions were held regarding not allowing a Sikh girl student to appear in the paper in Rajasthan and the incidents in Himachal

Chandigarh: Amid the ongoing rebellion in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), President Sukhbir Singh Badal held a meeting with SGPC members. A total of 106 members attended the meeting. In the meeting, all the members expressed their faith in the leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal. They also assured to stand with the party. This claim was made by the party’s senior leader and spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema.

He said that the members also expressed their opinion about the people engaged in weakening the Shiromani Akali Dal at the instigation of Delhi. During this time, discussions were held regarding not allowing a Sikh girl student to appear in the paper in Rajasthan and the incidents in Himachal. A strategy was also made regarding the SGPC elections.

The intention of the rebel group has come to the fore

Cheema said that the intention of the rebel group has come to the fore today. They wanted to tarnish the image of the party in the Jalandhar by-elections. They made the situation of an old family of the Akali Dal such that the family went to the AAP. In such a situation, it has been decided to give this constituency to BSP. He said that such a thing should not have been done with any family.

Rebellion started after the election results

The voices of rebellion inside the party were raised after the Lok Sabha election results. Because in the election, no one except SAD leader and party chief’s wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal could win the election. After this, the party called a meeting of the core committee in Chandigarh. Even before that, questions were raised about Sukhbir Badal’s leadership.

Although everything was in Sukhbir’s favor in the meeting, but there was opposition regarding the Akali Dal candidate for Jalandhar elections. After the nomination of the candidate, the seat was left to BSP. After this, the war going on inside the party came out in the open.
