Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has appealed to the Government of Canada and the Sikh leaders there along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India to solve the problems faced by the students of India and especially Punjab in Canada. Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, taking note of a video of a protest by Indian students in the city of Brampton, Canada, which went viral on social media, said that on the one hand, the government of Canada has allowed the arrival of a large number of international students while on the other hand, students are having to take to the streets to solve their problems.

SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India and the Canadian government should intervene to resolve the matter. The Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee President said that international students in Canada are sitting thousands of miles away from their country and parents, and it is the responsibility of the government to understand their life concerns and solve their problems.

He requested the Foreign Minister of India to intervene in this with personal interest and asked him to take the initiative to solve the problems faced by Indian students by talking to the Government of Canada.

Advocate Dhami also added that a large number of Sikhs are working in government and administrative positions in Canada and they must communicate with the government to resolve the grievances of the students and children of their community.
