Muktsar Sahib: The annual Shaheedi Jod Mela organized in the memory of 40 Muktas in Sri Muktsar Sahib of Punjab has started from today. Sri Akhand Paath was started at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib on Sunday, and Bhog will be on 14th January at 6 am.

Gurudwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib has historical importance, where the last rites of 40 Muktas martyred in the battle of Khidrana were performed by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself. According to Sri Darbar Sahib manager Baldev Singh, special religious gatherings will be held in Bhai Maha Singh Diwan Hall from 12th to 14th January, in which Ragis, Dhadis, Kavisri and Sikh preachers will connect the Sangat with Guru history.

Strict vigilance at all major gates

Sri Darbar Sahib has been decorated grandly for the fair. Arrangements for stay and langar of the devotees have been made by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Also, devotees from different areas are also doing langar seva. In view of security, strict vigilance is being maintained at all the 8 main gates of Darbar Sahib. Barricades have been installed by various service societies for the orderly movement of devotees.

The doors of Sri Darbar Sahib will open at 12 o’clock on the night of 13 January. On 14 January, devotees will take bath in the holy “sarovar” and on 15 January the fair will conclude with Nagar Kirtan. On the occasion of the beginning of Sri Akhand Paath, a large number of Sikh devotees including manager Resham Singh were present.
