Amritsar: In the Shiromani Akali Dal dispute in Punjab, the party has now expelled its patron, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. Yesterday, the party patron cancelled the decision to expel the rebel group by holding a press conference. In response, Akali Dal leader Mahesh Indra held a press conference in the Chandigarh Akali Dal office and accused him of anti-party activities.
Party leader Mahesh Indra raised the issue of Sukhdev Singh holding a press conference while being the patron and said that the patron in the party is the one whose utility is over. Such a person is made a patron to keep them together. Such a person does not have any power. Such a person can get his respect if he wants.
Mahesh Indra recalled an old incident and was reminded of the action taken by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa when he was the chairman of the disciplinary committee in the party. Mahesh Indra said that Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra had offered to make former party chief Prakash Singh Badal the acting chief in his place. Tohra had not even asked Prakash Singh Badal to resign, but Sukhdev Dhindsa, the chairman of the disciplinary committee, took action and expelled him from the party.
Mahesh Indra also raised questions about Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa being angry for not giving a ticket to his son.
Attacking Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, he said that those who are in the wave of reform are now raising the issue of Pradeep Kaler. But Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa himself has admitted that he has gone to the camp to get votes cast for Parminder. Not only this, Bibi Jagir Kaur herself had held a press conference saying that Parminder won because of the support of the Dera.
