Shortage of labour inspectors in Punjab will be resolved soon: Tarunpreet Singh Sond

He further informed that there are a total of 95 sanctioned posts under the Labor Department, Punjab, out of which 35 labor inspectors are currently working.

Punjab Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, while answering a question in the Assembly, said that the shortage of labor inspectors in Punjab will be overcome soon.

In response to a question asked by Principal Budh Ram, he informed everyone that the recruitment process of 52 labor inspectors is going on, and this shortage will be met soon. He further informed that there are a total of 95 sanctioned posts under the Labor Department, Punjab, out of which 35 labor inspectors are currently working.

Due to the shortage of labor inspectors, many employees have also been given charge of additional circles in addition to their permanent place of posting, due to which their regular presence in each circle is not possible.

He informed that the written examination has been conducted by the Subordinate Services Selection Board on 09-03-2025 to fill the vacant posts by the department. After the recruitment process is completed soon, 52 new labor inspectors will be available to the department.

Apart from this, for the convenience of the construction workers, the Labour Department has launched “Punjab Shramik Sahayak” mobile app through which the workers can register/renew as a beneficiary from their home.
