Six-member team of 16th Finance Commission on Punjab visit today

Chandigarh: A six-member team, including the Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, Arvind Panagariya, is on a visit to Punjab. The team will be on a two-day visit to Punjab, i.e. July 22 and 23. After the meeting today, the chairman will hold a press conference in Chandigarh today.  The Punjab government has high expectations.

After the meeting today, the chairman will hold a press conference in Chandigarh today.  The Punjab government has high expectations from the Finance Commission. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema welcomed the Chairman of the Finance Commission at the airport yesterday.

Punjab should get good funds from the central government in the coming time, and the projects going on in the state should gain momentum. The Punjab government has started working on a complete strategy for this. The commission’s visit to Punjab is considered very important because the issue of reduction in Punjab’s sources in the past will also be raised in the meeting with the commission.

It is known that this morning Finance Minister Harpal Cheema will present his case before the commission team and demand a special package. There is also information that the finance commission team may also meet representatives of different parties.

Earlier a high-level meeting was also held which was chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The 15th Finance Commission team had given a grant of 25968 crores to Punjab.
