SKM’s decision on joining the farmers’ movement today: Meeting of both factions in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Farmers are standing firm in the harsh winter at Shambhu and Khanauri border of Haryana-Punjab with 13 demands including legal guarantee of MSP of crops. It has been more than 10 months since the farmers have been sitting on both fronts. Meanwhile, today it will be decided how the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will support this movement.

To prepare its strategy, a meeting is going to be held in Chandigarh for the second time in a week between SKM and SKM non-political. However, in the SKM meeting held in Chandigarh on 18 December, it was decided that the Morcha would not directly join this movement.

On the other hand, it has been 29 days since the fast unto death of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. His condition remains critical. A candle march will be taken out across the country except Punjab at 5:30 pm today in support of his fast.

SKM non-political leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has announced a Punjab bandh on December 30. A meeting of all trade unions, social organizations, religious organizations, taxi unions has been called in Khanauri on December 26 regarding this. Farmer leaders have said that during the Punjab bandh on December 30, everything except medical and emergency services will remain closed from 7 am to 4 pm.

There has been an uproar in the Supreme Court over Dallewal’s medical report presented by the Punjab government. Punjabi-origin American doctor Swaiman Singh has raised questions on the report. The team associated with him is looking after Dallewal.
