Chandigarh: In a significant move to support the industrial sector, the Punjab government is set to bring forward two one-time settlement (OTS) schemes for industrial promoters, with a decision expected to be made in today’s cabinet meeting. This initiative aims to provide substantial relief to industrialists who have been facing financial challenges.

Under the proposed schemes, industrialists will have the opportunity to settle their dues for plots allotted before January 1, 2020, at a reduced interest rate of 8%. This arrangement will allow them to clear their outstanding payments without the need for a formal settlement process. However, it will be mandatory for these payments to be made by December 31, 2025.

The introduction of these OTS schemes comes in response to long-standing demands from the industrial community, highlighting the government’s recognition of the challenges faced by this sector. Additionally, a help desk will be established to assist industrialists in navigating the settlement process, ensuring they receive the necessary support and guidance.

This proactive approach by the Punjab government is expected to foster a more conducive environment for industrial growth and stability in the region.
