Jalandhar: A speeding car ran over a woman in front of the Sri Devi Talab temple in Jalandhar, Punjab. The woman’s child was also with her at the time of the incident. Whose life was saved. A CCTV of the entire incident started going viral late on Tuesday night. The deceased woman has been identified as Riya, a resident of Neelmahal. At present, the woman was living in a rented house near Gopal Nagar.
In the CCTV accused car driver was seen hitting the woman. The police of Thana Division Number-8 have registered a case against the unknown car driver in the matter. At present, the accused has not been arrested.
According to the information received, this accident happened at around 12.40 pm. At the time of the incident, the temple was closed, so she bowed her head in the temple from outside and was going to cross the road to give alms to a beggar sleeping on the roadside. Meanwhile, an XUV car coming from Doaba Chowk crushed the woman.
Police station-8 sub-inspector Baljeet Singh said that on Monday night he received information that a speeding car had crushed a woman outside Devi Talab temple and she died on the spot. After the incident, the accused driver did not stop at the spot but fled from there.
