Amritsar: Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport in Amritsar, Punjab, received a bomb threat on Saturday. The police succeeded in arresting the accused within 24 hours. The Amritsar Police team has arrested a youth named Gurdev Singh from Ferozepur, while the search for two other accused named by him is on. According to information received from the police, this threat was given to Amritsar Airport through email.The email was sent to the Amritsar Airport Authority. In the email, the accused claimed to have planted a total of 6 bombs at several places in the airport. The accused said that they should be given Rs 1 crore; otherwise, they will blow up the airport with a bomb. The information given in the email was shared with the Amritsar Police. After this the cyber department of Amritsar Police became active.
The cybercrime team of Amritsar Police has started searching for the sender of the email. Information about the accused was received from the IP address. The accused has been identified as Gurdev Singh, a resident of Ferozepur. During interrogation, the accused told the police about two other accused. The police are trying to identify them.
Police Commissioner Ranjit Singh Dhillon said that Gurdev was taken into custody and presented in court. The court has sent the accused Gurdev to three-day police custody.
