There was a stir in Chandigarh’s Kambwala area on Saturday afternoon when a bomb was found near a junk shop. When a call was received in the police control room regarding this, the police team immediately reached the spot. The area has been cordoned off. The army has been called to defuse the bomb.
After the information of the bomb in Chandigarh, DSP Udaypal, police station in-charge Narendra Patial, the operation cell and the bomb detection team started action under the leadership of SSP Kanwardeep Kaur. The entire area was evacuated from the security point of view. The entire area has been sealed by placing sandbags around the bomb.
According to police sources, this bomb cell may be from the war period. Earlier also a similar bomb cell has been found in Sukhna Chowk. The police has also informed the army, which will soon reach the spot and take action to defuse the bomb. At present, security arrangements have been tightened in the entire area and the police is investigating the matter thoroughly.
On a bomb shell found in a residential area, ASI Rishi Kumar says, “We only know that a dead shell has been found. The army will come here to remove it. The area has been cordoned off for safety and the general public has been prohibited… A scrap dealer found this in his old scrap. Cases like these have happened earlier as well.
