Storm and rain alert in 10 districts of Punjab: farmers advised to be cautious

According to the information released by the Meteorological Department, the average maximum temperature of Punjab has increased by 0.5 degree Celsius on Saturday. Although it is still within the normal range, a warning of intense heat has been issued in some districts and thunderstorms in some.

The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 38.3 degrees Celsius, which was recorded in Abohar and Samrala. Apart from this, major cities like Patiala, Amritsar, Bathinda and Ludhiana also recorded temperatures above 37 degrees.

Alert of rain and strong winds in these districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for strong thunderstorms and rain for many districts of Punjab. Districts like Faridkot, Moga, Pathankot, Patiala, Mohali, Sangrur, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Fazilka and Rupnagar are likely to experience strong winds at a speed of 40 kmph and rain accompanied by thunder.

Appeal to be cautious

The weather department has advised people to stay away from open spaces during strong winds and thunderstorms and to stay away from electric poles and trees. Farmers have also been instructed to take necessary precautions to protect their crops.
