Stringent action against drugs; Punjab Police to organize drug disposal program across state

Chandigarh: June 26 is observed as International Day against drug abuse. Working towards it, Punjab Police will be organising a drug disposal program at 10 different locations across Punjab. The day advocates actions against eradicating drugs from society.

On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse, Punjab Police DGP, Gaurav Yadav shared a video message on his X handle. Talking about the same, he said that the Punjab Police would be oragnising programs for the disposal of drugs in the state at total 10 different locations.

In the program, drugs seized during various search operations of Punjab Police will be disposed off transparently. As per the DGP Gaurav Yadav, total of 83 kg heroin, 3557 Kg Opium, 4.5 lakh Tablets/Pills will disposed on the spot across Punjab.

DGP Yadav further added that they have reviewed and adopted a comprehensive strategy of Enforcement, Deaddiction, & Prevention (#EDP) to eradicate drugs. Police have intensified strategy on controlling drug supply at Point of Sale at Mohalla & Village level.

Apart from this Punjab Police is tracing the forward & backward linkages to break the drug supply chain across the region. He appealed people to pledge to fight against drugs with unwavering resolve.
