Supreme Court to hear AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra’s plea challenging arrest by ED today

New Delhi: The petition challenging the case registered by ED against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra from Amargarh, Punjab will be heard in the Supreme Court today.

In his petition, he has challenged the arrest and remand by ED. He is accused of fraud of crores of rupees. However, earlier he had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In this, he had sought permission to campaign. But the court rejected it.

CBI had also started investigation

CBI started its investigation into this case in May last year. Raids were conducted in a case related to fraud of 40 crores. After this, in September, ED registered a case related to loan fraud against him. During the raid, Rs 32 lakh in cash, some mobiles and hard drives were seized from his premises. However, he had earlier announced to take a salary of one rupee.

AAP MLA Gajjan Majra is lodged in Nabha jail since his arrest. However, in the meantime, he slipped and fell in jail. After this, he had to be admitted to the hospital. After this, he fell ill again, and then he was admitted to the hospital.

While the opposition parties had raised questions that the government was giving him VIP treatment by admitting him to the hospital on the pretext of illness. However, after the matter heated up, he was sent back to jail again.
