SVEEP Campaign: DC Aashika Jain flags off LED Van, will sensitize people about voter awareness

 SAS Nagar: Deputy Commissioner Mohali flagged off the voter awareness van as part of the SVEEP campaign in the district. Apart from registering as a voter, LED van will also make people aware of exercising their right to vote. Continuing the awareness activities under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP), Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Aashika Jain Launched an LED awareness van from the District Administrative Complex today.

Giving information, Ms. Jain said that according to the schedule of special cursory scrutiny of voter lists, new voters can register their names from October 27 to December 9, 2023. For this purpose, those citizens whose age is 18 years or older as of January 01, 2024, are eligible to become voters. Any person can login to the National Voter Service Portal online or by downloading the mobile app Voter Helpline and easily register themselves as a voter before the due date.

She said that LED van has been launched by the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab to spread the message of becoming a voter and exercising your right to vote during elections. These vans cover all three assembly constituencies in the district Kharar-52, SAS Nagar-53 and Derabassi-112 for two days. She said that apart from showing IEC material and awareness films, the van also has an electronic voting machine to educate people about the working of EVMs and how to cast their vote through the machine.
