Chandigarh: The heat wave is continuously increasing in Punjab. According to the Meteorological Department, Chandigarh, the average maximum temperature in the state has increased by 0.1 degree Celsius today, but this temperature is 3.4 degree Celsius more than normal.
There are 6 districts in Punjab where the temperature has crossed 40. The highest temperature was recorded in Bathinda (airport), where the mercury reached 43.9 degrees Celsius.

Heat wave will prevail in Punjab
According to the warnings issued by the Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions will persist in many districts of Punjab in the next few days. A ‘Be Alert’ warning has been issued for many districts including Ferozepur, Fazilka, Bathinda, Muktsar, Mansa on 27 and 28 April. On the other hand, the situation may become normal to some extent on 29 April, but the effect of heat will still remain in the southern districts.
Apart from this, thunderstorms and strong winds have also been predicted in some northern districts, where ‘No Warning’ level has been shown.
Chances of rain from April 30
There are chances of rain in some districts of Punjab, especially in the neighbouring districts of Himachal Pradesh from April 30. This is expected to bring some relief from the increasing heat. Apart from this, strong winds will blow in the state in these few days and there are also chances of rain with thunder.
