Heat has started showing its fierce form in Punjab. On April 23, Bathinda recorded a maximum temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius, which was the highest in the entire state. According to the Meteorological Department, Chandigarh, the average temperature in Punjab has increased by 0.5 degrees and it is 2.4 degrees more than normal.
Apart from Bathinda, Ferozepur recorded 40.8, Amritsar 38.8 and Ludhiana 39, Patiala 39.7, Chandigarh 38.8 and Mohali 36.9 degrees Celsius.
All these figures are till 5:30 pm on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department has issued no alert for today. But after 24 hours, the effect of the heat wave will also be seen from tomorrow.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave warning in many districts for the next three days:
April 25: Yellow alert has been issued for Ferozepur, Fazilka, Bathinda, Mansa and Muktsar districts.
April 26: Heatwave will hit central and southern parts of the state like Barnala, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Faridkot and Muktsar districts. A yellow alert has been issued here.
April 27: The scope of the warning will be further expanded to include Ludhiana, Sangrur and Bathinda as well as Patiala and Barnala
