Amritsar: The temperature in Punjab continues to rise. After a few days of relief, today the average maximum temperature of the state increased by 0.3°C, but it still remains 2.3°C below normal. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Punjab will start increasing again from today.
The highest temperature in the state today was recorded at 31.5°C in Gurdaspur, which was the hottest compared to other districts.
Maximum temperature and fluctuations of other major cities
Cities like Chandigarh (29.8°C), Amritsar (29.7°C), Ludhiana (29.1°C), Patiala (29.1°C), Mohali (28.3°C) and Ferozepur (28.5°C) recorded temperatures below normal in the state.
In the last 24 hours, Gurdaspur rose by 4.0°C, Chandigarh by 1.3°C and Ludhiana by 0.7°C, while Faridkot recorded a drop of 7.0°C.
Weather Department forecast
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of further change in temperature in the next few days. There is no forecast of rain in the coming days, nor is any western disturbance starting. Due to which an increase of 3 to 7 degrees is possible in the coming 5 days.
