Amritsar: A pride march scheduled to take place in Amritsar on 27th April at 5 PM at the Rose Garden has ignited controversy, with several sikh religious organisations voicing strong objections to the event. The groups have urged the local administration to cancel the march, citing the city’s religious snctity and cultural values.

Prominent Sikh leader Paramjit Singh Akali, along with representatives from Nihang Singh factions, has called the planned parade “imappropriate” for a city considered holy in sikhism. “we will not allow a gay parade to take place in Amritsar under any circumstances,” Akali said, adding that the event goes against the traditional values of the region and could hurt religious sentiments. He also warned of mass protests if the administration fails to take action.
