The menace of robbers in Khanna is increasing day by day. Robbers are continuously committing crimes while challenging the police. In the latest incident, five robbers riding on two bikes attacked a liquor shop employee with sharp weapons, and he was seriously injured. The robbers snatched Rs 38,000 and a bag full of documents from him and fled away. The robbers carried out the incident in Khanna’s new colony and the incident was captured on CCTV.
Mahendra Singh, who narrowly escaped the attack by the robbers, said that he works at a liquor shop in Mandi Gobindgarh. After completing his work, he was returning to Khanna from Mandi Gobindgarh on his motorcycle at around 12:30 am. On the way, when he reached near Khanna’s Dussehra Ground, 5 people were standing on two motorcycles. The five of them started following him.
After trying to escape from them, he reached near his house, but before reaching home, five of them attacked him with sharp weapons and injured him badly. The five robbers snatched his belongings, bag, mobile, and Rs 38,000 in cash, and fled. He reached home with great difficulty, after which he was admitted to the hospital.
The injured man’s son, Manpreet Singh, said that the police should arrest the culprits as soon as possible. On the other hand, Sandeep Kaur of City One police station said that information has been received from the hospital. The police is examining the footage of CCTV cameras, soon the robbers will be identified and arrested.
Giving information in this regard, DSP Amritpal Singh Bhati said that on the night of the incident, when our police officers went to take the statement of Mahinder Singh, he had already left the hospital. Today, his son came to the police station and recorded his statement. That day he only talked about his mobile being snatched, and today, he has mentioned Rs 38,000. We are also investigating the veracity of this. We have CCTV footage which shows that the incident took place. We have registered a case, and an investigation is on.
