Amritsar, May 1: A terror plot has been foiled near Bharopal village on the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar district. Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police have recovered weapons in a joint operation. Along with this, two hand grenades have also been seized. It is estimated that these hand grenades were to be used to carry out terrorist incidents.

BSF had received specific intelligence that a consignment of weapons had been sent from across the border. As soon as the information was received, a joint team of BSF and Punjab Police started a search operation in the Bharopal village area. During the long search operation, 2 hand grenades, 3 pistols, 6 magazines and 50 live cartridges hidden in the ground were recovered.

A major threat to the country’s security has been averted

Looking at the quantity and quality of the recovered weapons, it is feared that these could have been used to carry out a major terrorist attack in Punjab or the surrounding states. By taking timely action, the security agencies saved the country from a major tragedy.

These are the same kind of hand grenades that were used in the past on police stations and houses of politicians.

BSF vigilance and coordination of the Punjab police

BSF said in its statement that this action is proof of the continuous vigilance of the security forces and their dedication to the borders. Also, the seamless coordination with the Punjab Police in this operation proved to be a huge failure on the plans of the terrorists.

The recovered weapons and ammunition have been handed over to the Punjab Police for further investigation and legal action. The police is now trying to find out who these weapons were to be delivered to, who all were involved in this and how widespread the network is.
