Punjab State Special Operation Cell arrests drug smuggler in Fazilka

Drug money worth Rs 6 lakh was recovered; the business of bringing poppy from Rajasthan and selling it in Punjab, many FIRs registered earlier too. 

Fazilka: The State Special Operation Cell in Fazilka, Punjab, taking action based on information, has arrested a drug smuggler. Police have recovered drug money worth Rs 6 lakh from him.

It is being told that many cases were registered against the arrested accused earlier too. He does the business of bringing poppy from Rajasthan and selling it in Punjab.

The police officer said that information was received that accused Amarjit Singh, alias Laddu, son of Joginder Singh, resident of village Lamochhad Khurd police station Sadar Jalalabad, brought poppy from Rajasthan State and further supplied it to the villages of Firozpur and Fazilka area of Punjab. Drug money earned by selling poppy is sent back to Rajasthan via hawala from Ludhiana. Even today, the said accused is present at Firozpur-Fazilka Road, Kila Chowk Firozpur, to send the drug money to the previous party in Ludhiana through hawala.

On which the police took action on the spot and arrested the accused. Drug money worth about 6 lakh rupees has been recovered from him. It is being told that earlier also cases of selling drugs had been registered against the arrested accused. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act, and further action has been initiated. He told me that the accused would be produced in court and police remand would be obtained.
