3 solar power plants to be set up in Bathinda

These three solar power projects, with a 12 MW capacity and a cost of 50 crores, are expected to be operational by June 2025.

Bathinda: Three solar power plants of 12 MW capacity will be set up by the Punjab government in the Bathinda district. Each will have a capacity of four megawatts. This project will generate about 6.65 million units of electricity annually. The government has taken steps in this direction. It is expected that this will benefit the people. Also, there will be relief from power cuts.

These three solar power projects, with a 12 MW capacity and a cost of 50 crores, are expected to be operational by June 2025. Panchayat land has been leased near 66 kV sub-stations of PSPCL in villages Bhagi Wander, Shergarh, and Kothe Maluana in Bathinda district to set up these projects. Electricity will be supplied to PSPCL at the rate of Rs 2.748 per kilowatt hour under the long-term PPA from these projects.

Punjab’s New and Renewable Energy Resources Minister, Aman Arora, said that this project will be done by the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA). Earlier, a 4 MW solar power plant was commissioned in the village of Tarkhanwala, Bathinda, to meet the demand for agricultural electricity. The electricity produced from this project is supplied to the grid or substation of PSPCL located in the village of Sekhu.
