Toronto: EITF arrest Youth from Punjab Jaskaran Singh, charged with 17 Extortion related offences

Jaskaran Singh was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton

On wednesday, The Peel Regional Police Extortion Investigative Task Force (EITF) arrested Jaskaran Singh resident of Toronto. Jaskaran Singh has been arrested by the EITF as he has been charged with 17 extortion related offences.

In a release by the Peel Regional Police, it was said a 30-year-old man from Toronto was arrested after recent incidents that occurred throughout the Greater Toronto Area since December 2023.  These incidents included mischief to property, threats, and firearm-related offences.

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the EITF executed a search warrant at a residence in the City of Toronto and arrested and charged Jaskaran Singh with the following offences, as per the Peel Regional Police.

  • Extortion (X2)
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device (X2)
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon (X2)
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle knowing there was a prohibited Device (X2)
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited/Restricted Firearm without Licence
  • Disobey Court Order (X3)
  • Mischief Over $5000

Jaskaran Singh was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. The accused has since been granted bail and is currently on a court order with conditions.
