Ludhiana: A family consisting of husband, wife, and child committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near Ghangrana railway halt between Ahmedgarh and Kila Raipur, falling under district Ludhiana, Punjab.
Investigation officer GRP ASI Gurmel Singh, who is investigating this case, said that during interrogation with the family members, it was found that the deceased Sukhpal Singh, son of Darshan Singh, used to install lifts in big buildings. But he was not getting work for a long time.
Sukhpal Singh lived separately from his father Darshan Singh and due to unemployment, the circumstances were not good. Troubled by financial crisis, Sukhpal, his wife Sukhdeep Kaur and nine-year-old son Baljot Singh committed suicide by jumping in front of a train going from Amritsar to Hisar.
GRP Ludhiana police have taken all three bodies in its custody and sent them for post-mortem. Police officials say that the statements of the family members have been recorded. The family committed suicide due to being fed up with poverty.
