Jagraon police in Ludhiana arrested two friends in a drug smuggling case on Saturday. The CIA staff had received secret information that two persons were going to supply heroin on a motorcycle. The police caught the accused by setting up a blockade.
The accused have been identified as Dharampal Singh alias Dhama and Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi of village Kaunke Kalan. During the search, 15 grams of heroin was recovered from them. The police will present both the accused in the court and take them on remand for further interrogation.
SI Gursevak Singh said that the accused were coming from Chuhadchakk towards Jagraon. Both the accused used to supply narcotics in the nearby villages. The police have registered a case at the Sadar Jagraon police station.
In the interrogation so far, it has come to light that one of the accused has returned from Jordan. The second accused used to work as a plumber. Both of them started drug smuggling for the greed of money. The police is now trying to find out from where the accused used to buy heroin. According to the investigating officer, the names of big smugglers may be revealed during interrogation.
