2 brothers die due to tree falling in Gurdaspur

They were going to their sister's house on a bike, the family said, and the vehicle hit them from the side.

Gurdaspur: Two elderly brothers riding motorcycles died in a road accident near the village of Babbehali in Gurdaspur. Both the brothers were going to village Khare in town Kadian on a bicycle to attend their sister’s program. Road Safety Force personnel who reached the spot have taken the bodies into their custody and sent them for a post-mortem.

Giving information, the son of one of the deceased said that his father Balkar Singh (age 70 years) and his uncle Gurmej Singh (age 80 years) are residents of village Shahur Kalan and were going to village Khare in Kadian to attend their sister’s program. Someone informed the family over the phone that both the brothers had died in a road accident.

A tree branch broke and fell on them, due to which they died on the spot.

But they do not think so. He said that some vehicle hit them from the side, due to which both the brothers died, so the police should investigate this matter seriously.

On the other hand, the Road Safety Force officials who reached the spot said that the accident happened due to a sudeden breaking of a white poplar tree, due to which both the brothers died. Their bodies have been taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem, and further investigation is being done.
