A few days after five miscreants robbed a factory worker of Rs 14.80 lakh, the police have arrested two accused and recovered Rs 8 lakh in cash from their possession. The police have also seized the motorcycle used by the accused in the crime.
The two arrested accused have been identified as Vikramjit Singh alias Sagar of Preet Nagar and Vikram Singh alias Vicky of Preet Nagar of Shimlapuri. The other three accused are identified as Prince of Baba Deep Singh Nagar Dugri, Mangat Singh of Sherpur Kalan of Jagraon and Karan Kapoor Bhatia of Dugri. They are yet to be arrested.
According to the police, Vikram alias Vicky, who was former employee at the factory, was the mastermind of the case. He had left the job around six months ago and as he was aware about the working of the firm and about the person handling the cash, he (Vicky) hatched the conspiracy with his four friends.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP – 4) Prabhjot Singh Virk said that the incident had occurred on February 19 when the accused had targeted a factory worker Harpreet Singh at RK Road and robbed him of Rs 14.80 lakh in cash. The Moti Nagar police had then registered a case under sections 304(2), 3(5) BNS against unidentified persons on the basis of the statement of factory owner Rajan and had initiated investigation.
During investigation the team of Inspector Amritpal Singh, SHO, Moti Nagar, traced two accused Vikramjit and Vikram and recovered Rs 5 lakh in cash from their possession. Then during questioning the police obtained information about their accomplices and conducted raid at the premises of another accused Prince from where Rs 3 lakh in cash were recovered. However, three accused Prince, Mangat and Karan are still absconding.
ADCP said that Vikramjit Singh alias Sagar is already facing trial in a case and had recently come out of jail on bail.
