Ludhiana Rural Police has taken major action against drug smuggling. Police have arrested two smugglers in different cases. Both of them used to sell heroin under the guise of their shops. Police have registered a case against the accused and is interrogating them.
In the first case, police have arrested Manjit Singh alias Mani, a resident of Agwar Gujra Kotha Sher Jang. CIA staff found a suspicious bike rider near Sherpur Chowk. During search, 20 grams of heroin was recovered from him. The accused used to run a hair-cutting salon. Customers used to come on the pretext of getting a haircut and buy heroin, and take it away.
In the second case, police have arrested Shiv Kumar, a resident of Karnail Gate. He used to run a grocery shop. On seeing the police, he threw an envelope from his pocket. On investigation, 4 grams of heroin was found in it. A case has been registered against both the accused in City Police Station. Police is investigating the mobile of the accused. Other smugglers are being traced from call details.
