Vigilance Bureau Action: Two RTA office employees arrested for taking Rs. 5500 bribe

State Vigilance Bureau said that the above accused have been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Surjit Kumar, a resident of village Manwal, district Pathankot.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested data entry operators Jatinder Kumar and Mukesh posted at the Registration and Transport Authority (RTA) office in Pathankot while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,500.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the above accused have been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Surjit Kumar, a resident of village Manwal, district Pathankot.

He said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the above accused demanded a bribe of Rs 5,500 in exchange for converting his Himachal Pradesh number vehicle to Punjab registration number.

The spokesperson further said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and caught the above two accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,500 from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses.
