Vigilance Bureau arrests Patwari for taking bribe of Rs 10,000 in Gurdaspur

The team of Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested a revenue patwari Navinder Pal posted in revenue area Dhapai, sub-tehsil Kadian of Gurdaspur red handed while taking a bribe of 10000 rupees.

Gurdaspur: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau team has apprehended Navinder Pal, a revenue patwari posted in the Dhapai area of sub-tehsil Kadian, Gurdaspur, caught in the act of accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.

A spokesperson from the State Vigilance Bureau disclosed that Navinder Pal was arrested following a raid prompted by a complaint lodged by Harjaap Singh, a resident of Dhapai village.

According to the spokesperson, Harjaap Singh had reported to the Vigilance Bureau that Navinder Pal had already accepted ₹2,000 as a bribe to facilitate the transfer of land ownership to Singh’s wife, and was demanding an additional ₹10,000.

Acting on this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau conducted a preliminary investigation and apprehended Navinder Pal red-handed while he was accepting the ₹10,000 bribe from Harjaap Singh, in the presence of two official witnesses.

A case has been registered against Navinder Pal at the Amritsar Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The spokesperson added that Navinder Pal will be presented in court tomorrow, with plans for further interrogation after seeking remand.
