Batala: The Vigilance Bureau officials suddenly raided the office of Municipal Corporation Batala. During the raid, the officials of the Vigilance Department caught JE Jatinder Kumar, alias Shaili, of the Civil Department red-handed, taking a bribe of 50 thousand rupees.
Inspector of Vigilance Department Indrajit Singh said that JE Jatinder also has charge of Batala Corporation and Pathankot Corporation. The accused had demanded a bribe of one lakh rupees from complainant Harpal Singh for changing the government land that was coming into the colony for his work. It was decided to give 50 thousand rupees in the first installment, while the remaining bribe was to be given after the work was done.
However, the complainant did not want to give a bribe. He told the entire incident to the department. After this, the complainant was given notes stained with chemical colour to give to the said JE Jatinder Kumar. As soon as the complainant gave the money to the accused, he was caught red-handed taking a bribe. He said that further legal action is being taken in this case.
