Senior Dalit leader and former Union Minister Vijay Sampla has issued a strong challenge to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun the leader of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), over the desecration of a statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in Nangal village, near Phillaur.

Chandigarh: Senior Dalit leader and former Union Minister Vijay Sampla has issued a strong challenge to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun the leader of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), over the desecration of a statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in Nangal village, near Phillaur. Sampla has vowed to personally guard the statue on April 14 and dared Pannun to remove it.

“If you have courage, if you have truly been raised with your mother’s milk, then try and remove the statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar,” Sampla declared, slamming Pannun’s anti-national rhetoric.

The controversy erupted after a video released by Pannun claimed responsibility for defacing Dr. BR Ambedkar’s statue in Nangal on March 30. In the video, Pannun called for the removal and destruction of all Ambedkar statues in Punjab on April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Sampla condemned Pannun’s actions, stating that Dr. Ambedkar’s constitution has given Dalits representation and dignity in governance across India. He emphasized that the Constitution ensures legal equality and protection of rights for all Indian citizens, regardless of caste, religion, race, gender, or social status.

Demand for FIR against Pannun under SC Act & Religious offence laws

Sampla also accused Pannun of insulting Guru Ravidas Maharaj by addressing him as Bhagat Ravidas instead of acknowledging him as a divine figure. He stated that this remark has deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees of Guru Ravidas.

Sampla has demanded that the Punjab government immediately file an FIR against Pannun under blasphemy laws and the Scheduled Caste Act for his remarks against Dr. Ambedkar and Guru Ravidas ji Maharaj. He also urged authorities to initiate legal proceedings to extradite Pannun from the United States and bring him to justice in Punjab.
