Gurdaspur: Hardorwal Khurd village under Dera Baba Nanak Vidhan Sabha Constituency came to the spotlight after Atma Ram Singh of BJP made a bid of Rs 2 crore for the post of Sarpanch. In a shocking development today, Bibi Jyoti, the close associate of Aam Aadmi Party director Channan Singh Khalsa and the wife of Aam Aadmi Party worker Sarwan Singh was elected as Sarpanch by the villagers unanimously.

Aam Aadmi Party and Constituency In-charge Gurdeep Singh Randhawa congratulated  Bibi Jyoti on becoming Sarpanch, who was elected due by the residents of Hardorwal Khurd village.

On reaching the village, Bibi Jyoti and her husband Sarwan Singh were warmly welcomed by the senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party, Channan Singh Khalsa, and the villagers threw flower petals and put garlands and expressed their happiness.

After becoming Sarpanch, Bibi Jyoti and her husband Sarwan Singh bowed down in the village church.  On this occasion newly elected Sarpanch Bibi Jyoti and her husband thanked Aam Aadmi Party leadership and Constituency Leader Gurdeep Singh Randhawa.

Earlier, Gurdaspur village came into headlines after a BJP leader made a bid of Rs 2 crore for the post of Sarpanch. Sum was offered by Atma Ram Singh who justified that funds will be used for the developmental projects of the village. Atma Singh’s father Basban Singh also served as Sarpanch of the village.
