Visa Fraud in Chandigarh: 102 passports, laptops and mobiles recovered, 3 accused arrested

Three accused who cheated youths on the pretext of sending them abroad have been arrested. They have cheated several youths by extorting crores of rupees from them. Arshad Khan and Mahipal had set up a fake lab where they used to get medical tests of the youths done.

The police took permission from the court and searched two offices of the accused in Sector-22 and Sector-44. From there, the police recovered 102 passports, laptops and mobiles. The accused are still being questioned. Complainant Ashish Sharma had told the police last week that he along with seven others had applied for a visa through Jaikaran Joshi at M/s Golden Overseas in Sector-9.

The firm operators took Rs 8 lakh from him, then neither gave the visa nor returned the money. Frustrated, he complained to the police. The police had registered a case against the accused. Police have arrested accused Jaikaran Joshi, a resident of Kharar. Based on interrogation, police has arrested Arshad Khan, a resident of the Sikar district of Rajasthan, and Mahipal Singh, a resident of Chandigarh.

The accused had set up six offices in five sectors of the city. These offices were opened in the name of M/s Smart Visa Point in Sector-8C, M/s Canadian West Consultancy, M/s Golden Overseas in Sector-9D, M/s Guru Tour and Travels in Sector-20, M/s Golden Overseas in Sector-22C and M/s World International Tour and Travel in Sector-44.

Inexperienced girls used to take blood samples

Visa applicants were sent to the Health Care Diagno Lab located in Sector-33D. This fake lab was run by Arshad Khan and Mahipal. He said that he had hired two girls to take blood samples. They neither had the relevant degree nor did they have any experience of this work. Police have also recovered glass vials for filling blood samples 1600 pre-medical examination reports and other documents from that fake lab. Rs 6000 to 6500 were charged from the applicants in the name of medical.
