Amritsar: Jitendra Singh Moti Bhatia has become the new Mayor of Amritsar from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Apart from him, Priyanka Sharma has become Senior Deputy Mayor and Anita Rani has become Deputy Mayor. In Amritsar, which has 85 wards, a majority of 46 councillors was required for the Mayor. In the election, the maximum number of councillors, 40, were elected from Congress.
24 councillors of Aam Aadmi Party had won. Apart from this, they also claimed the support of 7 independent and 2 BJP councillors. Congress claimed the support of 41 councillors, claiming the support of one independent. Despite being the largest party, Congress failed to make the Mayor.
Work will be done on basic issues – Moti Bhatia
Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia said – I thank the leadership of Aam Aadmi Party and the MLAs who supported me. The basic issues of Amritsar will be worked on first. The issue of cleanliness and sewerage in the city will be resolved soon.
