New Delhi: In a recent development, Ramanjit Singh alias Romi, who is the main accused and mastermind of the Nabha jailbreak case, is being brought to India. The extradition has been approved from Hong Kong and he will reach Delhi at 4 pm today. The Punjab Police teams have reached Delhi to bring him from there.

Romy, the key conspirator, is being brought back today to face justice. Nabha Jail Break Key Conspirator Romi With Police Officials In FlightThe extradition of Romi is considered a big success for the Punjab Police as he was the biggest helper of people escaping from jail. AIG AGTF Gurmeet Singh Chauhan confirmed the news of Romi being brought to India. He further added that a team of six members including SP, and two DSPs has gone to take him back.
Ramanjit Singh Romi, the main accused of the Nabha jail break case, was arrested in Hong Kong in the year 2018. There are three cases against him in Punjab. After this, Punjab had raised this matter before the central government. Along with this, the process for his extradition had started. A long legal battle has been fought to extradite him to India and now after many years Ramanjit Singh alias Romi will be brought back to India.
Romi is also suspected of being involved in the murders that took place in Jalandhar and Ludhiana in the year 2016-17. According to Punjab Police, he was in contact with gangster Gurpreet Singh Sekhon. Gurpreet was among the six people who escaped from Nabha jail in November 2016 and he was the main conspirator of this case.

Police also believe that Romi had provided money to those who escaped from the jail. Also, he had hatched the entire conspiracy of jailbreak from Hong Kong itself. On 27 November 2016, six prisoners escaped from Nabha jail in Patiala. These included two terrorists and four notorious gangsters. Khalistan Liberation Force chief Harminder Singh Mintu, who had escaped during the jail break, was arrested by the police a few hours later. But another terrorist Kashmir Singh had escaped. While the main accused in this case, gangster Vicky Gounder, has been killed by the police in an encounter.
