Chandigarh: The harshness of winter continues in North India. The icy winds from the mountains have heightened the chill in the plains. Dense fog is disrupting train and flight operations. Due to the adverse weather conditions, trains are running late from their scheduled times, while flight routes have also been altered. Visibility at Delhi’s IGI International.

Impact of the Cold Wave:
The cold wave is affecting Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, and Uttar Pradesh, with temperatures steadily dropping in these states. Weather forecasts indicate a minimum temperature of around 8 degrees Celsius.

Flights Diverted and Canceled:
Due to dense fog, 19 flights from Delhi have been diverted, and 24 have been canceled. The diverted flights are headed to Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Mumbai. Approximately 150 flights have been delayed at IGI Airport.

Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued:
The IMD has issued warnings for dense fog and extreme cold in several areas. An alert for more cold and dense fog is in place for Delhi. Regions in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and other states in North India are experiencing biting cold. Yellow and Orange alerts have been issued accordingly.

According to the IMD, extremely cold weather and fog conditions are expected to persist in the coming days across central and northwestern India. Very dense fog is likely to prevail during late night and early morning hours in various districts of Delhi, Chandigarh, and Haryana.
