Weeks after operation Sindoor Govt to conduct mock drill tomorrow in bordering states

Mock drill will be held tomorrow i.e., on Thursday evening, in the states bordering Pakistan. These include Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan. People have been appealed to remain alert.

Earlier on May 7, mock drill was conducted in 244 districts of the country. In this, citizens were given training to protect themselves during an attack. This was done so that the safety of the people could be ensured in case of war. Now, mock drill will be held only in the bordering states.

The last time such a mock drill was conducted in the country was in 1971. Then there was a war between India and Pakistan. This mock drill was conducted during the war.

In fact, after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, on May 7, India carried out airstrikes on 9 terrorist bases in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) and Pakistan. The Indian army killed 100 terrorists. It was named Operation Sindoor. Since then, there has been tension between India and Pakistan.

A 12-minute blackout exercise was conducted on May 7 in 244 cities of 25 states and union territories of the country. The Home Ministry had listed these cities as civil defense districts.

These were different from the general administrative districts. In this, people, employees, and students were explained the methods of rescue and evacuation in emergency situations.

The total 259 civil defense districts of the country have been divided into 3 categories on the basis of their importance or sensitivity. Category 1 includes those districts that are most sensitive. There are a total of 13 such districts.

Due to the presence of the Narora Nuclear Plant in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, it has been kept in Category 1 district. Similarly, there are 201 districts in Category 2 and 45 districts in Category 3.
