‘Will Continue to stay here..’: Punjab Guv Banwari Lal Purohit rests speculations on his resignation

Purohit added that the ranking of the UT has improved and jumped to 11 from 66 because of the hard work done by his team.

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has rested the speculations on his resignation from the post of Governor of Punjab UT Administrator.

He made it clear that he would continue to serve as his resignation was not accepted. It should be noted that on February 3, citing personal reasons, Banwari Lal Purohit presented his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu.

While talking to media persons, Purohit explained that the decision to resign was because of his personal reasons. Talking about his family he said that he missed his family and so do they which is why he wanted to spend time with them. Purohit said, “As the resignation has not been accepted, I will continue to stay here”.

Talking about the accomplishments of the UT Administration in the past two and a half years under his tenure, Purohit said all departments had worked hard and made achievements but his main focus was to bring Chandigarh among the first five rankings of the Swachh Survekshan.

Purohit added that the ranking of the UT has improved and jumped to 11 from 66 because of the hard work done by his team. He further added that its one of his aims to make UT Chandigarh first model solar city in the country by 2030.

Banwari Lal Purohit was appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh in August 2021. Earlier, he also served as the Governor of Assam from 2016 to 2017 and the Governor of Tamil Nadu from 2017 to 2021.
