Woman, daughters humiliated with blackened face in Ludhiana; Women Commission takes cognizance

Ludhiana: The Punjab Women Commission has taken strict cognizance of the case of Deep Collection Factory owner Parvinder Singh and some of his associates blackening the faces of 3 girls working in the factory, an elderly woman and a man, and parading them around the area.

The Women’s Commission has written a letter to the Ludhiana Police Commissioner and sought a status report of the entire incident today. On the other hand, the police of Jodhewal police station registered FIR number 08 under sections 127,356,74,75,61(2) BNS against Parminder Singh factory owner, Manpreet Singh manager, Mohammad kaish and unknown persons. Accused Manpreet Singh and Mohammad Kaish have been arrested. Police is conducting raids to arrest the factory owner.

A person running a cloth factory named Deep Collection in Ekjot Nagar had caught a woman working in the factory, her 3 daughters and a young man on charges of stealing cloth. The owner called all five after seeing the CCTV footage. The owner said that the cloth had been stolen from the factory for several days. They have committed this theft. After this, there was a ruckus there.

The owner ordered ink without informing the police and blackened the faces of all five and made them stand there. After this, he wrote ‘I am a thief, I am accepting my crime’ on a placard and put it around the neck of all five. The placard also had the names of all five.

After this, they were taken to the street and paraded around the entire locality. People started making videos of all five. When the five were paraded around the locality, people also followed them. People hooted and shouted slogans of ‘beat them, beat them’. Everyone stood and watched the spectacle, but no one stopped the factory owner. Meanwhile, someone informed the police. Later, the police also reached the spot and intervened.
