Sangrur: A young man committed suicide by hanging himself in Sangrur on Thursday. The deceased youth has been identified as Basant Singh. Deceased Basant Singh’s father, Pyara Singh, son, and Pritam Singh, resident of Rampura Road, said that his 28-year-old son Basant Singh was married about a year ago to Khushpreet Kaur, alias Khushi, daughter, Lakhvir Singh, alias Lakha, resident of Ageta police station, Sadar Nabha.

He alleged that his son was allegedly being harassed by his wife and mother-in-law. Fed up with them, his son committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan in his room at home yesterday evening.

Based on the statement of Pyara Singh, the police have registered a case against the deceased’s wife Khushpreet Kaur alias Khushi, mother-in-law Jeet Kaur’s wife Lakhvir Singh alias Lakha, and middleman Karamjit Singh’s son Hari Singh resident Ghanaur Rajputa, police station Didba, and started further action.
