Gurdaspur: Several youths who had gone to Russia on tourist visas were falsely included in the army and were sent into the war against Ukraine. Now these youths have appealed Indian Government to help them through a video message. There are a total of 14 youths out of which seven are from Punjab.
Ravneet Singh of village Avankhan in the border town of Dinanagar of Gurdaspur and youth Vikram of village Jandey had also gone to Russia on tourist visas after spending Rs 11 lakh. In Belarus, they were caught by the police and handed over to Russian soldiers. As per them, these soldiers have forcefully recruited them into their army and now they are being forced to fight the war against Ukraine.
The parents of youths Ravneet Singh and Vikram of the village have demanded from the Central and State Governments that their children should be brought back to India.
Victim Ravneet Singh’s sister Navdeep Kaur and mother Kulwant Kaur said that they belong to a poor family and had taken a loan to send their son abroad. The agent had promised that he would send their son to some good country for work but a few days later they received a call that their son had been caught in Russia and was forcefully recruited into Army.
Both families are in deep shock and have demanded from the Central Government that their sons should be traced as soon as possible and brought back to India.

A video is also going viral on Twitter in which a young man named Gagandeep Singh is narrating his entire grief. According to him, he had left for Russia with his friends to celebrate New Year on 27 December. He had taken a 90-day visa to Russia. There an agent offered to take them to Belarus. They all went to Belarus without visas because they did not know that visas were required there. There the youths were captured by the police and handed over to the Russian authorities. Russian officials made him sign some documents and now he is being forced to fight the war against Ukraine.
