Zirakpur: Gang selling government owned land with help of patwari; Reports claims

According to information, this gang is selling the land to common people at huge sums by making fake documents of government land.

Zirakpur: Last year, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau uncovered a criminal operation in Jalandhar involving a gang working alongside a senior town planner from the Municipal Corporation to defraud the public.

Numerous individuals were apprehended, some of whom were denied bail for six months pending trial.

Recently, another gang has come to light in Zirakpur, Punjab, reportedly involving a local patwari, a real estate developer, and a lawyer. This group is accused of selling government land to unsuspecting buyers using falsified documents, targeting properties caught up in legal disputes or awaiting court decisions.

Tajinder Singh, the patwari involved, allegedly claims close ties to officials in the Vigilance Bureau and describes himself as untouchable.

The gang includes Pawan Garg alias Stephy and Puneet Garg, besides Patwari Tajinder Singh. In a conversation with an undercover journalist posing as a property buyer, Tajinder Singh boasted of his connections with top government officials and regular meetings with Vigilance Bureau officials, asserting immunity from any legal action.

The lawyer associated with the gang is purportedly confident in his ability to obtain court injunctions using forged documents, leveraging his alleged influence with the judiciary. Reports indicate that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is preparing raids in the tri-city area, including Zirakpur, to investigate the financial aspects of the land transactions involving Tajinder Singh and his accomplices.

The ED, cautious in its statements pending the investigation’s outcome, underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the need for a comprehensive inquiry into the financial dealings under scrutiny.
