Punjab’s Golden Era of Education: Government Schools Create History, Ranked No. 1 in National Survey

Punjab Education System: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab has made an extraordinary leap in the field of education. In the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024, Punjab secured the No. 1 position in India, surpassing top-performing states like Kerala.

The outstanding performance of students in Classes 3, 6, and 9 has proven that government schools in Punjab are now a symbol of quality education. Education Minister Bains said, “This victory belongs to the common child who has written a new story of success with hard work and confidence.” Punjab’s success is not limited to academics alone.

Students from government schools have also achieved remarkable results in competitive exams. In 2025, · 845 students qualified NEET, · 265 cleared JEE Mains, and · 44 cracked JEE Advanced, including 6 students who secured admission to IITs. This transformation has been made possible through initiatives such as Schools of Eminence and government-run coaching camps.

Additionally, the government distributed free school uniforms to 1.549 million students and provided free textbooks to all. In 2025, 725 new teachers were recruited, and more than 10,000 contractual teachers were regularised. So far, over 25,000 teachers have been given permanent appointments. Today, Punjab’s government school system is competing head-to-head with private institutions. These sweeping education reforms have proven that studying in a government school is now a matter of pride.
