Punjab Desk: Demonstrating remarkable financial resilience and administrative efficiency, Punjab has recorded a 21.51% increase in net GST collections till October 2025, while the month of October alone saw a strong 14.46% growth. Sharing this information in an official press release, Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise & Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema congratulated the state for this exceptional performance despite severe floods and rationalization of tax rates under GST 2.0.
Revealing the figures, Finance Minister Cheema said that from April to October 2025, the state collected ₹15,683.59 crore as net GST, compared to ₹12,907.31 crore in the same period last year marking an impressive increase of 2,776 crore. In comparison, the growth rate till October 2024 for fiscal year 2024–25 was barely 3.8%. The Finance Minister further stated that the net GST revenue for October 2025 stood at 2,359.16 crore, compared to ₹2,061.23 crore in October 2024 an increase of ₹298 crore, clearly reflecting strong economic momentum in the state.
He noted that this growth came even after the GST 2.0 reforms implemented in September 2025, which included significant tax rate reductions. Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Despite tax cuts and extremely challenging conditions caused by devastating floods, Punjab has achieved remarkable GST growth.
This success reflects improved tax compliance, effective anti-tax-evasion initiatives, and advanced digital monitoring systems. Punjab’s growth rate of 21.5% is far above the national average of 7%, placing the state among the best-performing regions in North India.” He added that the post-settlement figures of SGST and IGST up to October 2025 confirm the financial strengthening of the state, noting that Punjab’s overall growth rate surpassed all neighboring states except Haryana.
Cheema emphasized that the performance reflects the resilience of Punjab’s trade and industries, particularly considering that nearly half of the state’s districts were affected by severe flooding during this period. Acknowledging the contributors to the state’s achievement, the minister credited the Excise and Taxation Department’s data analytics capability, digital integration, strong field enforcement, and strategic planning. He reiterated the department’s commitment to making compliance easier for honest taxpayers, intensifying action against tax evasion, and advancing Punjab’s economic revival through transparent and efficient tax administration.
