Chandigarh: Punjab is witnessing an unprecedented wave of investments under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, marking a significant transformation in the state’s industrial landscape. In the current financial year alone, Punjab has attracted investments worth ₹29,480 crore, expected to generate 67,672 new employment opportunities.
Over the past two and a half years, the Mann government has brought in over ₹88,000 crore in total investments, reflecting a strong and consistent policy push.
Major Companies Commit to Punjab
Key industry players have made substantial investments in the state. Tata Steel Limited invested ₹2,600 crore, Sanatan Polycot Private Limited ₹1,600 crore, and Ambuja Cements Limited have also committed significantly. Additionally, Infosys announced a ₹300 crore expansion in Mohali, creating 2,500 direct jobs and 210 indirect employment opportunities. These moves underscore Punjab’s growing reputation as an industry-friendly state.

Investor-Friendly Policies Drive Growth
The relaunch of Punjab’s Investment Promotion Portal has been a game-changer, boosting project attraction by 167%. The portal now offers a single-window solution, enabling investors to obtain all approvals online and track project status in real time. The state has also implemented an industrial land bank, tax exemptions, subsidies, and simplified licensing procedures, particularly benefiting MSMEs.
Diversified Sectors and Widespread Employment
Investments span manufacturing, IT, food processing, agriculture-based industries, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and tourism. Projects are being established in cities, small towns, and villages, ensuring local employment and reducing migration. Since March 2022, Punjab has received proposals worth ₹1.14 lakh crore, expected to generate over 4.5 lakh jobs.
Focus on Youth and Sustained Industrial Growth
Chief Minister Mann emphasizes youth employment as a top priority, ensuring that every investment considers job creation. Advisory panels comprising experts from different sectors have been formed to promote industries, resolve investor issues, and implement policies effectively. Experts predict that if this momentum continues, Punjab could emerge as a key industrial hub within the next two to three years.
A Promising Future for Punjab’s Economy
The foundation laid by the Mann government is fostering investor confidence, streamlining industrial processes, and creating equitable employment across the state. With strategic policies and continued efforts, Punjab is poised to become a major contributor to India’s industrial growth while transforming local livelihoods.
